Trade Reporting is the dashboard view of your trades — a tree of every trade (grouped by Symbol/Account), with each one's legs, saved report history, and live P&L/Margin figures in one place. Open it from Settings & Windows (wheel icon) → Trades → Trade Reporting.
This page also covers saving a report for a single trade — something you can now do from three different places in SOAP2, not just Trade Reporting — and the difference between the two kinds of saved report you'll see: Snapshot and Final Report.

Every time SOAP2 saves a trade report to disk, it's one of exactly two kinds. Knowing which is which is the key to understanding everything else on this page:
| Snapshot | Final Report | |
|---|---|---|
| When is it created? | Any time you ask for one, while the trade is still open — as many times as you like. | Automatically, exactly once, at the instant a trade closes to flat (via Convert). |
| Who creates it? | You — manually, via one of the three "Save Snapshot" actions below. | SOAP2 itself — no action needed, and there's nothing to click. |
| What does it contain? | The full P&L/Margin history SOAP2 can reconstruct for the trade up to that moment (real historical data), plus the current cost/P&L/margin headline numbers. | The trade's legs exactly as they stood immediately before the closing order was applied, and its final realised P&L. Deliberately simple and fast — it does not re-run a full historical replay. |
| Where does it show up? | Under that trade's Saved Reports (N) node in the tree — one entry per save. | Under that trade's own Final Report node — normally just one entry. |
| Why the split? | A trade you're still managing can reasonably be snapshotted many times as it evolves. A trade that's already flat only ever needs one definitive closing record — showing it mixed in with a growing list of "snapshots" made it look like an ongoing, repeatable thing when it isn't. | |
"Ex-ante" note: despite being saved automatically after the trade goes flat, a Final Report's content is captured from before the closing order — it's a photo of the trade a moment before it died, not a look back at an empty position. A flat trade has no position left to describe, so this is the only useful moment to capture it.
Every trade in scope (see filters below) gets one root row, expanding to:
2026-09-17 14:22:10 (2h old)) — a saved report is always a frozen point in time, never
live data, so the age is always shown to make that unmistakable.Double-clicking any row inside a trade's subtree (not just its root) opens that trade's full Trade Report window — the same historical P&L/Margin chart you'd get from TradeList's "Quick Trade Report" or an Options Analysis window's own Snapshot/report tools. The toolbar's Trade Report button does the same thing for whichever row is currently selected, if you'd rather click a button than double-click.
Checking a trade's root row (its checkbox) includes it in the Totals tab on the right; checking cascades to every row underneath it.
The toolbar's Symbols, Accounts, and Trades dropdowns narrow the tree, each cascading into the next (picking a symbol narrows which accounts/trades show). The funnel-shaped dropdown holds two more filters:
All three do exactly the same thing: run a real historical P&L/Margin computation for the trade (the same one the Trade Report window uses) and save it as a new Snapshot — no window needs to be open first.
| Where | How |
|---|---|
| Trade List | Select the trade, then choose Save Snapshot Now from the Trade Management dropdown (right next to Quick Trade Report). |
| Trade Reporting | Select any row in the trade's subtree in the tree, then click the toolbar's Save Snapshot button. (Note: this is not the same as the Save button next to it, which exports the checked trades' aggregate totals to a CSV file — see Totals tab.) |
| Options Analysis (OA) | Click the SNAPSHOT button (next to TLOG/COMMIT) — no trade needs to be loaded to see the button (its dropdown's Review Saved Reports... is always reachable, see below), but saving one does require a real trade, not the Model Trade. |
A Snapshot saved from Trade List or Trade Reporting has no screenshot attached (no window is open to capture). The OA's SNAPSHOT button is the exception: it captures the OA's own Risk Graph as it currently stands and saves it alongside the CSV, same as a full Trade Report window's own Save button would.
Finding your way back to what you just saved: the OA's SNAPSHOT button is a split button — click its small dropdown arrow for Review Saved Reports..., which jumps straight to Trade Reporting with that exact trade selected and its Snapshot History tab open, resetting every filter so the trade is guaranteed to show up (see Snapshot History below). With no trade loaded on the OA, it instead just opens Trade Reporting on its own, same as the main Settings & Windows → Trades → Trade Reporting entry. TradeList's Trade Management dropdown has the equivalent action, Review Saved Reports..., right below Save Snapshot Now. This is the fastest way to review existing snapshots without hunting through Trade Reporting's own Symbol/Account/Trade/Status filters by hand — and saving one from the OA now also does this automatically, landing you there the moment the save finishes.
Click any entry under Final Report or Saved Reports (N) in the tree — or any row in the Snapshot History tab below — and its summary (trade, cost, current cost, commissions, P&L, margin, and a screenshot if one was saved) opens in the Saved Report tab on the right, switching to it automatically.
Selecting any row inside a trade's subtree also fills the Snapshot History tab — a table listing every saved Snapshot for that trade (Final Reports are deliberately left out here — see above for why a trade's one definitive closing record doesn't belong mixed into an ongoing series), oldest first, side by side: Trade, Saved time, Kind, Cost, Current Cost, P&L, P&L %, Margin. Unlike the Saved Report tab (one report at a time), this is the place to see how a trade's numbers moved between saves — click a row to load its full preview (including the screenshot, if any), or select one and press Delete to remove it (same confirmation as deleting from the tree).
Select the entry in the tree and press Delete. You'll be asked to confirm (it also removes the paired screenshot, if any) — this only removes that one saved report file, not the trade itself.
The Totals tab shows combined figures — Realised P&L, Total P&L, Commissions, Current Margin — across every checked trade in the tree (not the saved reports; this is always live data). Min/Max Margin are deliberately not summed across trades, since each trade's worst case doesn't necessarily happen at the same moment — those stay visible only inside each trade's own Trade Output node. The toolbar's Save and Print buttons act on this tab's totals.
Why does Trade Reporting only show one (or very few) trades? The Status filter defaults to Open only — see Narrowing the tree. Everything else is listed in the "Excluded by status filter" node at the bottom, not missing.
What's the difference between the "Save Snapshot" button and the "Save" button in Trade Reporting? Save Snapshot saves one report for whichever trade is selected in the tree. Save (next to it) exports the aggregate totals for every checked trade to a CSV file — two unrelated actions that happen to sit next to each other.
I saved a Snapshot but there's no screenshot in its preview. Expected for Trade List's and Trade Reporting's own "Save Snapshot" actions — neither has a window open to capture. The OA's SNAPSHOT button is the one quick-save action that does include one (its own Risk Graph); if that one is missing a screenshot too, the capture itself likely failed silently (e.g. the Risk Graph tab hadn't rendered yet) — the CSV side of the save still succeeds either way.
A trade shows a "Final Report" node even though I never saved anything for it. Correct — Final Reports are created automatically by SOAP2 the moment the trade closed to flat, not by you.
Can a trade have more than one Final Report? Only if it was somehow closed more than once under the exact same name (re-opened, then closed again) — the tree then shows Final Report (N) instead of the normal singular Final Report.
